Job Title:
Junior Accountant Balance Sheet
Control
Main purpose of Job:
Be part of the Non-Ferrous Balance Sheet
Control Team, which is responsible for daily payments, daily
maintenance of financial and operational systems, cleaning of
suspense accounts, insurance declaration and reporting on debtors,
creditors, cash and group balances.
This is an entry level role therefore not all
responsibilities will be assigned immediately; however over time
the employee will be expected to master all areas within the work
area.
Key Responsibilities:

Process commercial invoices in the financial
accounting system (SUN) in a timely and accurate manner.
-
Interact with operators to ensure that costs
are expensed to the correct contract.
-
Check statements of external warehouses and
freight forwarding companies and make sure cost apportionment is
done correctly by the operators.

Clearing suspense accounts. Reporting of
outstanding items and negotiation with Treasury/Operations to solve
issues.

Maintain reconciliations of financial data
bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.

Daily systems maintenance e.g. setting up of
counterparties, account codes, etc.

Daily systems integrity checks, correcting
errors immediately where possible or managing the issue with
Operation and Management Accounting Team.

Prepare declarations of material and credit
risks for insurances.

Assist in documenting assigned tasks.
-
Assist in resolving queries from other
departments.

Assist in handling inquiries from external
auditors.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

Apprenticeship or commercial degree with
incipient experience in Accounting or Accounting related
environment

Good team-player and an open personality with
energy and drive and eager to learn

Willingness to work a flexible schedule
-
Ability to accurately and efficiently work to
deadlines and motivated to succeed in a high pressure
environment

A care for consistency
-
Good communication skills in English (written
and verbal)

IT skills: good knowledge in Excel, Outlook
and Word

The ability and enthusiasm to use technology
to complete daily tasks. A forward thinker who is willing to
contribute towards the continuous improvement of systems and
processes
