Job Title:

Junior Accountant Refined Metals              

 

Main purpose of Job:

Assistant Accountant in the Refined Metals Accounting team, that will be responsible for liquidating commodities as well as assisting with management reporting and financial controls for the Refined Metals Division.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:    

  • Initially, the main responsibility will be that of liquidating certain commodities throughout the month (in line with reporting deadlines). ‘Liquidations’ is a key process whereby variances between the P&L reported by Traders and actual results are analysed, investigated and explained. Necessary journal entries will need to be made as part of this process.
  • Assist with the monthly / quarterly and year end closing processes for Refined Metals, some of which includes performing reconciliations of general ledger accounts, stock, intercompany, accruals, etc as well as assisting with the completion of the reporting packages which are submitted to the Group.
  • Assistance and involvement with the interim and year-end audit work.

  • Further accounts assistant work, such as documenting control processes etc as well as additional ad hoc tasks which are required.

Reporting Structure:     

Reporting directly to the Head of Refined Metals Accounting

 

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)

  • Preferably an Accounting background, 1-2 years of work experience in an accounting related environment

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Consistent, reliability and transparent

  • Open personality with energy and drive

  • Desire to be an important part of the accounting team

  • IT skills: Excel, Word, Outlook

  • Experience of accounting and analysing applications such as Sun Accounts, Business Objects and SQL would be advantageous
