Credit Analyst

Main purpose of Job:

Research and analysis of financial information for commercial counterparts, to make written (in English) recommendations for internal credit limits.

 

Determining and monitoring exposures (actual and potential) versus internal credit limits.

 

People Management Responsibility:

none

 

Typical Key Responsibilities:

  • Research – including the counterpart’s background, business, management, ratings, markets and news items.
  • Analysis of financial information on the counterpart and/or its parent/guarantor.
  • Recommending internal credit limits for counterparties. Assessment of credit exposures with counterparties for compliance with internal limits.
  • Developing relationships with counterparties.
  • Negotiating transactional and security documentation and ensuring that these are completed and kept current.
  • Close interaction with trading teams.
  • Evaluation and analysis of specific trades and structured deals.
  • Informing and advising on industry developments.

 

Experience/Knowledge/Skills (Competencies):

 

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ credit analysis experience gained in a financial institution (bank/insurance company) or equivalent. We will not see people who do not meet this requirement.
  • Ability to process work very quickly in a busy and challenging environment. Responsible individual with an ability to assimilate lots of information, think clearly and make presentations in a concise manner.
  • Attributes: Commercial outlook; Team player; Driven and ambitious; Hard working and flexible; Takes responsibility; Resilient and enthusiastic; Confident and effective communicator; Able to work alone and on own initiative.
  • Excel and Word/Outlook competence.

Desirable

  • Ideally, with some experience in/exposure to a commodity trading environment.
  • Ideally degree level education in a numerate discipline.
  • Legal knowledge / understanding / appreciation.
  • Language skills
