Job Title:

Business Analyst / Project Manager

 

Work Area:

London, West End

 

Main purpose of Job:

To perform business and system analysis from requirements capture to specification production in order to develop internal and third party systems to meet business needs. Also to perform project management to ensure timely delivery of business solutions.

 

Team Structure:

Working within a software team of about 50 people providing solutions, support and services across our trading divisions

 

 

People Management Responsibility:

Self or small team (3-5)

 

Typical Key Responsibilities:

  • To capture requirements and use analysis and design techniques to clearly specify the desired functionality

  • To manage the delivery of software projects on time, on budget & to required quality level

  • To assure the quality and usability of work packages that are returned from the developers

  • To assure that all specified requirements are met, escalating any deviations where necessary

  • Create and maintain analysis documents 

  • To liaise with business users in order to recognise, record and prioritise work requirements

  • Occasionally to provide user training on new functionality, and to handle user queries regarding internal and third party systems

 

Minimum Experience/Knowledge/Skills (Competencies):

 

Essential

  • Ability to write project scope, requirements documents and solution specifications (use cases and other Trafigura internal documents)
  • Skilled structured analysis techniques
  • Circa 3yrs of analysis experience or equivalent
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to solve problems
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and to show to initiative whilst working individually.
  • Personal time management and ability to work to deadlines
  • Proven project management skills

Desirable

  • Experience working with commodities - preferably oil, metals or energy
  • Basic analysis modelling (class, sequence & activity diagrams)
  • System test production (basic scripts and plans)

 

Technical Skills:

  • Experienced user of case tools and document version control systems
  • Screen design
  • Knowledge of .NET, Java, Linux, SQL Server an advantage

Reporting Structure:

  • Team Leader

  • Other Business Analysts
