As a global physical trading business we are active in many of the world's emerging economies. We frequently engage with local communities in remote rural locations. In some cases, these people live in challenging economic conditions and lack even basic infrastructure.
The Trafigura Foundation was launched in November 2007 in response to a widely held desire amongst those who work for Trafigura to make a real and lasting difference. The Foundation supports sustainable development programmes in more than 30 different countries, with a strong focus on income-generating activities.
In parallel, our employees around the world generate fundraising activities for philanthropic causes of their choice through local Charity Committees within Trafigura. Charity Committees may also put forward a specific charity or programme, which the Trafigura Foundation will review and possibly support.
From improving the lives of remote rural communities in China to supporting the development of social enterprises in Africa, and from promoting the inclusion of young people with disabilities in Argentina to providing vocational training to marginalised youth in the US, the Trafigura Foundation ensures genuine impact on individuals and communities.
