Sergio Rial has more than 30 years of international experience across the financial services, agribusiness, aviation and energy sectors and joined the Board of Trafigura as a non-executive director in January 2026.
He is currently Chair of Vibra Energia S.A., a Brazilian distributor of petroleum products and biofuels, Chairman of Frux Capital Investments and a Board member of Delta Air Lines. He previously served as Vice Chairman of the Board of BRF S.A., a global food processing company, and as Chairman of Ebury Partners, a fintech payments company.
Previously, Sergio was Chief Executive Officer of Banco Santander Brasil from 2016 to 2022 and served as Chairman from 2022 to 2023. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Cargill and Marfrig Global Foods and worked in investment banking at ABN AMRO and Bear Stearns in New York.
A Spanish and Brazilian citizen, Sergio holds degrees in Economics and Law and an MBA.
