SCALE OF OPERATIONS

How we deliver

Moving vital resources from where they are produced to where they are consumed is a complex undertaking that requires many forms of transport including road, rail, river barging and pipelines, as well as access to ports, terminals and warehouses. All of this is supported by a network of local offices which provides on-the-ground oversight and expertise.

ENHANCING EFFICIENCY

Supply chain know-how

Our logistics network enables much more than just the timely supply of vital raw materials. By co-ordinating, organising and managing the movement of commodities along the supply chain, we enable our clients to focus on their core activities while we manage the risk for them.

ADDING VALUE

Transforming raw materials

Commodities are not uniform and can vary in quality and characteristics depending where they are mined or extracted. To be marketable, they need to meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Using our network of storage terminals and warehouses, we can blend materials from multiple sources to create products that we then verify, validate and sample to ensure they make the grade.

In this way, we are able to help producers of a wide variety of commodities access global commodities markets and consumers – and provide customers with the resources they require.

DEVELOPING SUPPLY CHAINS

Investing in infrastructure

We support investment in road, river and rail logistics, linking transport arteries to modern ports and terminals. These projects help provide access to remote and difficult-to-reach locations and play a crucial role in ensuring safe and efficient supply of vital resources.

CASE STUDY

Lobito Atlantic Corridor

We are part of a consortium that has been awarded a 30-year concession to operate the 1,300km Lobito railway, which runs across Angola to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

After investment, the railway will provide a quicker western route to market for minerals and metals produced in the Congolese Copperbelt. The upgraded railway line will also help bring vital goods and resources into the region and support business development and commercial activity along the route.

River Barges in South America

On the Parana-Paraguay River, one of South America's most important waterways, our Impala joint venture has invested in a fleet of modern barges that can move vital resources from inland Argentina to landlocked Paraguay and Bolivia. On the return journey, the same barges carry agricultural products for export to global markets.
