2023 Trafigura Climate Change And Environmental

Our commitments

We seek to prevent or mitigate pollution and biodiversity loss, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, use resources efficiently, and minimise and appropriately handle waste.

CONNECTING RESOURCES FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD

Trafigura's climate strategy

Our climate strategy focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with the supply of energy and commodities - at our own operations and working with counterparts to decarbonise supply chains; developing renewable and low-carbon energy and carbon solutions; and managing climate-related risks.

REDUCING OPERATIONAL EMISSIONS

We are committed to reducing emissions from our operations with a target to reduce operational emissions by over 50% by 2032.

Pathway To Reduce GHG Emissions
Scope 1 and 2 emissions

Our goal is to significantly reduce our operational greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2), with the aim of cutting emissions by over 50% by 2032 compared to FY2020. We plan to achieve this by taking several actions, including closing or converting carbon-intensive assets, purchasing renewable electricity, implementing energy-efficient measures at our operations, and incorporating low-carbon vessels into our shipping fleet.

Scope 3 emissions

Scope 3 emissions refer to indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that occur as a result of our business activities but are outside of our direct control. These emissions are associated with the entire value chain including the extraction, production, processing and transportation of the products we purchase and supply to customers.
