Gonzalo De Olazaval was appointed Global Head of Trafigura’s Metals, Minerals and Bulk Commodities division in 2023, after holding the position of Co-Head of Metals and Minerals since 2021.
Gonzalo joined Trafigura in 2007 and has held various positions within the company including Global Head of Lead and Zinc. Within that position, he also led the integration of the Zinc and Lead Concentrates, Refined Products and Derivatives trading activities .
Gonzalo has played a key role in the restructuring and consolidation of multi-metals business Nyrstar into the Trafigura Group and is a member of its Board of Directors.
Prior to joining Trafigura, Gonzalo worked for six years in Peru in commercial positions for Southern Copper Corporation and Compania Minera Milpo, as well as for a domestic non-ferrous trading company.
Gonzalo is a Peruvian national and graduated with a business degree from Universidad del Pacifico in Lima, Peru.
